His career began as a field attorney with the National Labor Relations Board. Before moving from Ft. Lauderdale to Boca Raton in 1990, and limiting his practice, he represented clients not only in matrimonial matters, but also in business and labor negotiations and litigation, real estate transactions, personal injury cases, and criminal cases, including several capital cases.
For several years, Mr. Gora has authored a regular column in the Boca Raton News regarding family law issues, called "Divorce Florida Style." Contributions to the legal profession include his long-time participation as a Director and Officer of the South Palm Beach County Bar Association, of which he has been President.
He has served The Florida Bar as a member of the Bar's first Family Law Rules Committee, which drafted Florida's first set of rules of procedure specifically designed for family court. He served the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar as a member of its Executive Council and chairman of the Section's Family Law Rules Committee.
At the request of then Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Major Harding, he served on the Court's Access To Justice Task Force, charged with improving the public's access to the Florida Family Court system. He has written, and regularly updates, a chapter in a publication of The Florida Bar on marital agreements.
He is a past Chairman of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, and remains a Director of that organization. He currently is a Trustee, and has served since 2006 as President, of the Boca Raton Museum of Art, and he is a former Trustee of the George Snow Scholarship Foundation. He has served as a member and Director of the Palm Beach County Economic Council and other community based organizations, and with his wife Bonnie Gora, co- chaired the America Cancer Society's South Palm Beach County 2003 fund raising gala, and the annual fund raising Gala of The Boca Raton Museum of Art in 2004.
Mr. Gora was honored by the American Jewish Committee in 2003 with its Learned Hand Award for service to the legal profession and community.
