Joseph M. Landolfi, Jr.

Joseph M. Landolfi, Jr. has been practicing law in South Florida for over twenty years, representing the unique needs of high net worth clients and businesses. Mr. Landolfi earned his B.S. in Accountancy from Villanova University and his M.S. in Taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He earned his J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law and went on to earn his LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law.

Mr. Landolfi ran his own boutique practice for several years before becoming partner at Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP, a multi-state firm based in Ohio. He then became a partner at Akerman, LLP, a firm ranked among the top 100 U.S. Law Firms by the American Lawyer. Presently, he is a partner at Shapiro, Blasi, Wasserman & Hermann, P.A., one of Boca Raton’s largest law firms, where he heads their estate planning practice division.

Mr. Landolfi has also been selected as one of Florida’s Super Lawyers, resulting from an evaluation of peer recognition and professional achievement independently conducted by Thomson Reuters. His main areas of practice include estate and wealth preservation planning, asset protection planning, corporate and transaction matters, elder law and special needs planning.

Mr. Landolfi has extensive experience in implementing sophisticated strategies designed to protect personal wealth and business assets from creditors and to mitigate the impact of income, estate and gift taxes. With respect to asset protection planning, such strategies include corporate formations, settlement of domestic and foreign trusts, equity stripping arrangements, private annuities, and creative applications of Florida’s statutory exemptions from creditors.  With respect to estate planning matters, Mr. Landolfi prepares wills, revocable trusts, advanced directives, life insurance and gift trusts, executes estate freeze transactions and deferred and split interest gifting arrangements, and assists clients with charitable gift planning and the creation of private foundations.  He also counsels clients in probate administration, elder law and special needs planning matters.

In his corporate transactions practice, Mr. Landolfi advises individuals and businesses as to the tax effects and other issues that may arise in a wide variety of transactions. Mr. Landolfi counsels clients regarding choice of entity issues, contract negotiation and drafting, partnership and joint venture structuring, shareholders’ agreements, financing, purchases and sales of businesses, business succession planning, and deferred compensation arrangements.

Mr. Landolfi also is an Adjunct Professor at St. Thomas University School of Law where he teaches a course in Estate Planning.

Mr. Landolfi resides in Parkland, Florida with Maria, his wife.
